Hi Kerry, I'd like to speak to you about this - I set up a place on land that I own in Second Life for MONA, a Spanish primate sanctuary that has links to WSPA, but must admit have not been very successful so far in exploiting the potential - please look me up in SL (Baldric Commons) or email me via Ning.
I am one of the students AC mentioned working on the Coventry University Second Life project.
This involves building, scripting and generally making the island work well and look good.
I have been a member of the WSPA for several years now and would be delighted to offer my free assistance to your project. I also know that a couple of my friends with similar skills would be happy to volunteer.
I'm happy to start straight away and build whatever you want building, make whatever you need making and script anything that needs scripting !
My SL name is Gemixin Miles so add me as a friend and come over and see our Island. Just search for Coventry University.
This sounds like the sort of project that students could help you get started with. I know Coventry University have a team of students working on building their SL island here:
Students my not be able to deliver the full corporate experience you require but at the very least they could help you develop a specification for the project and/or create a prototype.
No budget and no time to research and network to find people to help is going to be a challenge. There is more to launching successful virtual world experiences than just building and scripting. I think some of the low traffic charity sites (or any) in SL are examples of under realised potential. I'd suggest looking within your own WSPA community members for people that can help. You might try Kzero, a consultancy in Cambridge who say they are working with charities interested in SL now.

You might want to attend our Serious Virtual Worlds conference in Coventry next month to network with potential collaborators. Best wishes!
